FORBIDDEN MUSIC REGAINED

Cello, Piano, Violin
by Brundibár Arts Festival

Music Sun 19th Mar / 5 PM

Where oppressive regimes have silenced voices of dissent, music has often been both the object of silencing, as well as the act of resistance.

Brundibár Arts Festival brings to Brussels the soulful, passionate works of Jewish-Dutch female composers who bravely survived the Holocaust. Their careers suffered greatly and so much of their music is still laying unknown in manuscript form. After some research, the Brundibár ensemble has chosen and recorded some of their most beautiful works. These compositions have no performance history, to their knowledge, and have never before been recorded. They are now being premiered in Brussels.

Come revel in the original music of inspirational women composers.

Programme

Henriëtte Bosmans, Violin Sonata

Fania Chapiro, Cello Sonata no.2

Prach Boondiskulchok, (Brundibár 2023 Special Commission) Piano Trio no.2, Songs Without Words *

Henriëtte Bosmans, Piano Trio

Brundibar Arts Festival commissions a new piece of music every year from an up and coming composer. It symbolises their way of continuing the work and giving a voice to all those composers and artists whose voices have been cut short. This year they commissioned from the wonderfully talented and innovative composer Prach Boondiskulchok. This will be the European premiere of his piano trio no.2 "Songs Without Words", so don't miss it!

Musicians

Alexandra Raikhlina, violin

Liubov Ulybysheva, cello

Daniel Grimwood, piano
